Household skills for refugees

  • Practical Events

Our training courses and information events take place in shared accommodation and facilities for refugees.

  • Consulting

We advise employees and volunteers from public institutions in the refugee sector.

We support the participants in taking responsibility for their own living and living environment.

To do this, we work with trained speakers who meet the participants on an equal footing. The focus of the events is on the main topics of sustainable housekeeping and resource-saving action.

The DHB - Netzwerk Haushalt Landesverband Hessen e. V. has been committed to the interests of those who run a household for over 70 years. Consumers, housekeeping, family and work are central topics of the DHB.

The project is aimed at refugees, volunteers who accompany refugees and employees of public institutions.

It is part of a joint project with the consumer center Hessen e.V. (VZH) in the field of consumer information and advice and is funded by the state of Hessen, Hessian Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection.

The focus of the free events is on private consumption. The participants get extensive knowledge and impulses for the practical work and tasks in the private living area.

Our Mission

Advice, information and guidance

The private household and its interfaces to politics, law, society, economy and the environment are the focus of our association work.

An important topic is the commitment to more resource-saving action and the protection of the environment in the interests of future generations. To this end, we offer advice, information and instructions to all those interested in protecting resources through environmentally conscious action in private households.

Our Vision

Sustainable housekeeping and resource-saving action

We want to enable the participants to take responsibility for their own living environment and to act in a resource-conserving way. In addition to sustainable housekeeping, this also includes knowledge of the effects of one's own consumer behavior.

For us, sustainable housekeeping means conscious handling of laundry and cleaning chemicals, the use of household appliances, saving plastic and packaging, avoiding food waste and much more.

Our Realization

Training and advice

Our training courses last approx. 1.5 - 2 hours and can be accompanied by an interpreter. Priority topics of the event will be coordinated with the speakers.

The aim is to find people from among the refugees who, as multipliers, can pass on what they have learned to newly arriving refugees.

In order to dispose of and recycle these materials as sensibly as possible, there are different disposal channels in Germany.

For each household alone, there are four waste bins that are regularly collected by the municipal waste disposal company. The disposal and recycling of our waste is complex and starts with the correct sorting at home, because only waste that is properly sorted can also be recycled.

This event explains how different materials are separated and disposed and shows why it is so important to dispose waste properly.
